Solar Air Collector
Another Classroom Success…
The ACE freshman Trade and Industry Exploration classes partnered with junior and senior environmental science students to design and build solar air collectors in our first ever project with the Desert Research Institute.
Solar air collectors capture ultraviolet radiation to heat air. That heated air can then be used to warm living spaces in a home. No additional energy source is used to heat the air in the collector so homeowners have the potential of significant savings on energy costs in the winter.
Why do we complete these projects?
This is a great example of science, technology, engineering, and math education put to use in a “real world” application and setting. Students understand the relevance of concepts when they can apply them actively.
