Physical Science 1 addresses the physical science standards for chemistry and physics and Physical Science 2 addresses the Earth and space science standards. The science process standards are embedded within each course. Students who have successfully completed Physical Science 1-2 may receive credit for taking Chemistry; however, students who have successfully completed Chemistry may not receive subsequent credit for Physical Science 1-2. Life Science 1-2 is a full credit course that covers the life and environmental science standards. The science process standards are embedded within the course. Students who have successfully completed Biology may not receive credit for taking Life Science 1-2, and students who have successfully completed Life Science 1-2 may not receive credit for Biology. Students will investigate various environmental issues in the local and/or regional area(s). The course will cover ecosystems, the processes of natural selection, conservation, threats to our environment, and alternative energy sources.
