Learn Building Trades at Ace High School

BUILDING TRADES PROGRAM

In the Building Trades program students learn safety, tool recognition and usage (both powder-actuated tools and hand tools), measurement and jobsite etiquette. Students are exposed to training such as hand drafting, CADD, masonry, data wiring, sheet metal, blueprint reading and estimation. Students work on the jobsite every day in small groups, individually or with the whole class to construct a single-family house.

Students complete all aspects of construction including surveying, concrete, rough carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, insulation, sheetrock, roofing, finish fixtures, painting and landscaping. As the students progress through the building trades program, they will do material take-offs from house plans, write up orders, supervise small groups of second-year students, work independently and participate in SkillsUSA. Building Trades students earn up to 13 college credits.
